Rachel Alexandra

Rachel Alexandra (Medaglia d'Oro - Lotta Kim) is a retired champion racemare and 2009 Horse of the Year in North America. She is owned by Barbara Banke's Stonestreet Farm and has also made a successful broodmare from her only 2 live foals. Her first foal, a colt named "Jess' Dream" (sired by Bernardini) won his first start at Saratoga in August 2015. Her second foal, a filly named "Rachel's Valentina" (sired by Curlin) has won her first 2 starts including the G1 Spinaway, also at Saratoga in August 2015. .

Rachel won the 2009 Preakness Stakes, the second leg of the Triple Crown, in doing so she became the first filly to win the race in 85 years. She won races in six states (KY, LA, AR, MD, NY, NJ), on eight different tracks, against fillies and Grade 1 colts and older horses, achieving a long string of consecutive wins including numerous Grade 1 stakes. Rachel Alexandra neared or broke multiple stakes records, track records and winning margin records throughout her career. On September 28, 2010, owner Jess Jackson announced Rachel Alexandra's retirement.
